2. Accessing Relevant Articles
Abstracts must be read. This minimises the risk of missing a relevant article. Some papers can be accessed directly from the database, such as PubMed, by a link to the appropriate journal. It may be possible to retrieve others by searching for the journal online and retrieving the electronic article from the archive. Otherwise, the paper copy should be sought in the library or by inter-library loan where such facilities exist. Students at institutions with access to library facilities should use these. For those in developing countries that may not have such access, HINARI may help (Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative - http://www.who.int/hinari/en/ ). This has been set up by the WHO and major publishers to enable developing countries to gain access to over 3100 journal titles. Currently this resource is available to 113 countries, and may help authors in developing countries contribute to this project. |
